Thank you for your interest in ordering a vanity plate with the Division of Motor Vehicles. The issuance of vanity plates is subject to Division rules and standards; as such, the Division has final approval on any vanity plate issued.

You will be notified by email if your request is approved or denied. If approved, the owner shall be responsible for the regular registration fee, in addition to the $40 annual fee for the vanity plate. Please note that the registration fee for the vanity plate will be prorated if there is still time left on the customer's original plate, as appropriate.

All vanity license plates must be ordered and purchased online. In-person requests are no longer accepted.

To be eligible for purchase, the vanity license plate must be assigned to a vehicle that contains a Delaware vehicle registration. The vehicle registration must be valid for at least 90 days prior to placing an order. Only the vehicle owner(s) are eligible to order a vanity plate. Once purchased, the vanity license plate will be sent to the current mailing address on the vehicle registration. Expected delivery is approximately 6 - 8 weeks.

If an address change is required OR the vehicle registration expires in less than 90 days, you may utilize MyDMV to update the registration. Please keep in mind that a vehicle registration renewal may require a Delaware inspection. Please refer to DMV's General Inspection Information to determine if your vehicle may require inspection to be renewed.
