The Motor Carrier Unit is responsible for overseeing the International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) for the Delaware Division of Motor Vehicles. All of our operations have been centralized at the Dover DMV location to reduce wait time and improve overall customer service by creating a one stop shop to register commercial vehicles (IRP), file and pay road use taxes (IFTA), file and pay Unified Carrier Registrations (UCR), file and pay the Federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (Form 2290), and assist you with updating your Federal Motor Carrier account (MCS-150).
Delaware Motor Carrier Services Section is proud to announce the implementation of a new software system that will integrate both the International Registration Plan (IRP) and the International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) into one system. Some of the benefits you should expect to see are as follows:
- Online filing of quarterly IFTA tax returns along with online payment options to include payment by credit card and ACH.
- Online renewal of IFTA annual licenses and ordering of decals.
- Online ordering of replacement IRP cab cards.
- Expanded coordination of IRP renewals by allowing submission of documents electronically, by mail, or by fax.
